Information on the processing of personal data pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR · Last updated: 1 October 2026 · covers the “Don't Wake Waxi” app and this website.

1. Controller

In short: the app collects no personal data. There is no account, no server of ours, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party data-collection libraries. Everything the app stores stays on your device.

2. The “Don't Wake Waxi” app

2.1 No data collection, no server

The app needs no account and makes no connection to servers of ours. We receive no usage data, no crash reports, no identifiers and no content from the app. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. No data is shared or sold.

2.2 Local storage on your device

Session history, collection, streaks, settings and the state of the running timer are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. So that the widget and the Live Activity can read them too, part of this data lives in a shared App Group storage (group.com.wax7.dontwakewaxi), which also exists only on your device. Deleting the app removes this data. As with any app, local app data may be part of a backup you set up yourself in iOS (iCloud or computer); you control that in iOS settings and it happens without any action on our part.

2.3 Motion sensor (detecting a pick-up)

So that Waxi wakes up when you pick up your phone, the app reads your device's motion sensor. iOS requires no permission for this. The app only checks whether the device moved. Motion data is neither stored nor transmitted.

2.4 Camera (planned, optional)

An optional glance check using the front camera is planned. It is not currently part of the app. Once it is offered: it is off by default and only takes effect after your explicit activation and your camera permission. Analysis runs in real time on your device only; no image or video is created, stored or transmitted. You can switch it off in the app at any time and revoke camera access in iOS settings.

2.5 Notifications and Live Activity

Reminders when a focus session or break changes are local notifications planned by your device itself — no push server is involved. Permission is optional and requested only when needed. The Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the state of the running session and is likewise generated locally on your device.

2.6 Apple Music (optional)

If you choose Apple Music as your soundscape, the app accesses it through Apple's MusicKit, and iOS asks for Apple Music permission. That processing is carried out by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We receive no data about your library or playback. The built-in soundscape works without Apple Music.

2.7 Purchases

The app offers an annual subscription (with a free trial month) and a one-time purchase. Both are handled entirely by Apple (StoreKit). We receive no payment or account data; the app only learns whether an entitlement is active. You manage and cancel the subscription in iOS settings under your Apple ID.

2.8 Children

Because the app collects no personal data, it collects no data from children either.

3. The website (dontwakewaxi.vrc7.de)

3.1 Launch notification (email sign-up)

If you sign up via the form on the website, we store the email address you entered, along with the time and language of sign-up. Purpose: to notify you once, when the app becomes available in the App Store. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Storage location: exclusively on our own server, no transfer to third parties, no mailing-list provider. Retention: until the one-time launch notification is sent, after which we delete the address; you can also request deletion at any time, informally, by emailing contact@amx-mediensysteme.de. Providing this information is voluntary.

3.2 Server log files

When you visit the website, our server automatically processes access data: IP address, date/time, requested resource, data volume, referrer and user agent. Purpose: secure, stable operation and abuse prevention. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Retention: a maximum of 7 days, then automatic deletion.

3.3 Hosting

The website is self-hosted on a server in the EU (OVH). No transfer to third-party hosting providers beyond running the server takes place.

3.4 Analytics

For anonymous reach measurement we use GoatCounter (self-hosted, cookieless). No cookies are set and no personal profiles are built; only aggregated, non-identifying metrics (page views, referrer, coarse region) are collected. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. No consent banner is required for this (§ 25(2) TDDDG).

4. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). Consent given under section 3.1 can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. If the app or website changes in a way that changes data processing, we will update this policy; the date above shows the current version.
